Wirral Bonsai Club held their annual show at Gordale Garden Centre, Burton, Cheshire over the August Bank Holiday.
Gordale was established in 1948 and is one of the oldest garden centres in Britain and has continued to grow and expand ever since. Gordale was originally bought by Harold and Joyce Nicholson whilst they worked on a farm in Wiltshire. They arrived by motorbike and sidecar, along with their six ducks, while their cows followed by train before being walked from Hooton station to Gordale.
There was a fabulous exhibition of bonsai trees from the Wirral Group. This year, the Cheshire Bonsai Society were exhibiting as a guest society. There was also a good selection of bonsai accessories for sale by Green Dragon Bonsai, together with their latest batch of wire trees. http://www.greendragonbonsai.co.uk , together with a Club raffle, with experts on hand to impart their knowledge and skill to the many visitors attending.
